The Least of These

So, work was exhausting, took me a full day on Friday to recover, lethargic all day, and when I'm in that state I have nothing to share, except selfish thoughts and nobody wants to listen to that. Anyway, I have been considering lately the words that related to Jesus's reference to 'The Least of These', and when you invite people to dinner, to not invite the rich or those who can repay you but the blind, lame, poor, etc, you know the 'unlovely' people, either in your church or without, those that NOBODY else would invite to a dinner or party or whatever. Sometimes the current American version of these blind/lame/poor are simply the unwanted, those with personality defects, unable to hold a job , uninteresting, awkward, basically unwanted, and in some ways it would be easier to be with them if they were just blind/lame, or poor. What if I had a full house of them at dinner, what would that really be like, and would they be hurt that they were invited as part of this group. I guess you would have to invite some 'lovely' people as well so they wouldn't get that impression, but that is not my problem really, obedience is my real problem since I can talk a good game and sometimes just think a good game, now as my crowning achievement, ACT a good game. People need help yes, money, counsel, whatever, but what they want most is dignity  and to be loved.

My Visit to Anna, Illinois - July 18, 2017

Anna Illinois July 18, 2017 Illinois looms larger today than it usually does, since normally it is merely a pass-through state en-route to a more exciting destination. When I say Illinois, the city of Chicago and the surrounding area are excepted due to the stark geographic, demographic, and cultural differences between the two.   If you were to draw a straight line from Apple River to Sheldon, everything to the south and west of that line is what I consider true Illinois, with the exception of Champaign and East St. Louis. The rest is the city state of Chicago, so going forward when I refer to Illinois you’ll know to remove Chicago and the surrounding area normally referred to as Chicagoland, and should actually be called the state of Chicagoland.    Illinois therefore is a massive expanse of flat farmland in the northern half and resembles hilly western Kentucky in the south, but in either case there are few notable cities, but today there is ONE notable ci...

My Visit to Eugene

“Eugene is a Petri dish, where the Federal Government is the bacteriologist, removing all constraints from the sample population in order to view American anarchy. Kind of like Lord of the Flies with Adults.”  – Local resident outside the Wandering Goat in Whiteaker neighborhood of Eugene. Flying into Portland I can’t seem to get Carolina Pi out of my mind   from last week’s visit to   Cairo (Illinois) . If you remember from my last posting Carolina was about to tell me about what happened to Bobby Albright, but in order to do so she had to talk about the epileptic Catholic girl Mary Anne Piano.   Apparently Mary Anne had a fatal seizure where Albright left her, sans undergarments, right there in the linen closet at Manser’s place after the party and when her brother Johnny found out he took it real hard.
